Fourth London International Chinese Music Festival (LICMF)

Across three festival concerts, Julia performed on sheng with the UK Chinese Orchestra and appeared in the showcase programme on guzheng. The week brought traditional repertoire into conversation with newly written music.

26 August · Sound of Nature

At SOAS, the programme included Ray Lin’s Silk Road Fantasia, Greensleeves, Village Celebration and Tang Jianping’s Heart Rain. Julia performed on sheng in the orchestra.

27 August · Gala concert

The gala at Holy Sepulchre brought together Chinese instruments and contemporary composition, including works by Li Linhao, Michael Ellison and Li Huan. Julia performed with the ensemble on sheng.

28 August · Showcase

The showcase programme included ensemble performances of Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon and A Happy Year. Julia took part in the guzheng programme.

Recognition

Julia received the festival’s Special Contribution Award for her musical and organisational contributions.
